6th Hockey India Sr Men Inter-Dept National C’ship: Amandeep’s brace powers Railways to title win

Hyderabad: Amandeep Lakra’s brace powered the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) to a comfortable 4-1 victory over the All India Police Sports Control Board in the final of the 6th Hockey India Senior Men Inter-Department National Championship 2026 at the Gachibowli Hockey Stadium here on Monday.

Railways, unbeaten throughout the tournament, produced another impressive performance to lift the championship trophy. The Police team, which had defeated last year’s runners-up Comptroller & Auditor General of India (CAG) in the semifinal, gave Railways a tough fight in the first half but faded after the interval.

Railways took the lead in the 20th minute when Atul Deep found the net. Police responded strongly after the break, with Shubham equalising in the 36th minute. However, Railways hit back immediately, with Rohit Rohit restoring their lead in the same minute. Amandeep Lakra then took complete control of the contest, scoring twice within a minute. Both goals came from penalty corners, in the 41st and 42nd minutes, giving Railways a commanding 4-1 advantage.

Police made determined efforts to stage a comeback in the final quarter but failed to breach the Railway defence. Railways’ Atul Deep received a green card in the 14th minute, while Rohit Rohit and Police’s Chandan Yadav were shown yellow cards in the 44th minute. In the third-place playoff earlier in the day, last year’s champions Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) defeated CAG 1-0 in a closely fought encounter. Affan Yousuf scored the decisive goal in the 53rd minute. CAG’s Sathwik HR received a green card in the 46th minute.

Results: Final — RSPB 4 (Atul Deep 20th, Rohit Rohit 36th, Amandeep Lakra 41st, 42nd) beat All India Police Sports Control Board 1 (Shubham 36th).

Third place — PSPB 1 (Affan Yousuf 53rd) beat CAG 0.
