Third edition of Chairman's Trophy Inter School Basketball Tournament off to a thrilling start
The finals of the girls and boys Under-13 teams will be held on Sunday as the respecting teams showcased splendid perfomeance on the inaugural day of the 3rd edition of Chairman’s Trophy Inter School Basketball Tournament on Friday.
Hyderabad: The finals of the girls and boys Under-13 teams will be held on Sunday as the respecting teams showcased splendid perfomeance on the inaugural day of the 3rd edition of Chairman's Trophy Inter School Basketball Tournament on Friday.
The tournament is being organised by St Peter's Residential School at its premises here at Dhulapally, Hyderabad.
In all 17 matches were held and both quarters and semi finals matches too were conducted. In Under 13 Girls category St Peter's and HAL reached final.
In Under-13 Boys, St.Peter's and Sadhu Vaswani will play each other for title on Sunday. Under- 16 Boys and Girls semifinals and finals will also be played on Sunday.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by its Secretary TV Reddy. Addressing the 200 plus gathering, he told the students to play the game in its true spirit.
Winning and losing is part of the game. Participating itself is winning. Learn the art of the game, he added.
As many as two hundred students representing nine teams from schools like DRS, Pallavi Model School, CMR International School, Oak Valley, HAL Secondary School, Sadhu Vaswani International School, Takshila School, Abhaya International School and St. Peter's Residential School in addition to the host school are taking part in the two-day tourney.
This annual tournament is held in two categories — Under-13 and Under-16 for both boys and girls.
According to T. Saroja Reddy, Director of St. Peter's School, Basketball as a sport is picking up in the city. More tournaments are getting organised and the Junior NBA stands out to be an inspiration.
On the inaugural day, St. Peter's B Team clashed with HAL Boys, Pallavi Model School was pitted against Sadhu Vaswani while the 3rd Under 16 Boys match was between CMR Intl School and Oak Valley.
Bal Reddy, Founder and Chairman of St. Peter's will be the chief guest on the final day and he will give away the prizes to the winners.
The winning team will be presented with a Rolling Trophy and Rs 8,000/. The runner-up team will receive trophy and Rs 5,000as cash prize.

St Peter's (12) Vs Oak Valley (7) HAL (6) Vs Takshila (0) St. Peter's and HAL reached finals. They will play finals on Sunday
Under 13 Boys St. Peter's (20) Vs Oak Valley (2) Abhaya Intl School (4) Vs Sadhu Vaswani(15) St.Peter's will play with SADHU Vaswani in the finals on Sunday
