WhatsApp may soon allow WhatsApp users to schedule WhatsApp messages by sending them right away. The Meta‑owned messaging platform is reportedly testing this feature for Android users giving them the option to prepare messages in advance and pick when the messages should be delivered.

According to WABetaInfo, the feature has been spotted in WhatsApp beta version 2.26.40.7, available on the Google Play Store. It is now being tested with beta users and might become available to more people in the next few weeks. WhatsApp has not officially said anything about the feature or given a date when it will be released.

How Will WhatsApp's Message Scheduling Feature Work?

The feature can be useful for people who want to send birthday wishes, meeting reminders, invitations or event details at a time. Then trying to remember to send a message later users can write it beforehand and schedule its delivery. The feature gives users control over timing. The feature saves time. The feature makes communication easier.

According to the report people can schedule a message by tapping and holding the send button. A menu will appear at the bottom of the screen letting them choose the date and time they want.

The same feature is also expected to work with group chats, which makes it simpler to send reminders and important updates to people all at once.

Another reported detail is that scheduled messages could be delivered even when the sender's smartphone is offline. This would mean users may not need to keep the app open or remain connected to the internet when the message is due to be sent.

Users may also receive scheduled messages from others even if the scheduling option is not yet available on their own accounts.

Scheduled Messages May Get A Separate Tab

WhatsApp is said to be working on a "Scheduled messages" section, inside chats. This part might let users look at messages they have planned to send. It could also let them remove or handle those messages before they go out.

The feature may also support photos and videos through the gallery picker. Users could reportedly select a media file and tap and hold the send button to choose a delivery time. However, the report suggests that only one media item may be scheduled at a time for images and videos.

Another detail concerns messages deleted before delivery. If a user deletes a scheduled message before it is sent, the recipient will not receive a notification about the deletion.

For now the feature stays in testing and its wider release awaits. If the feature is introduced it could make everyday conversations easier, by letting users plan their messages ahead without worrying about sending them at the moment.
