Hyderabad: The BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday referred to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy as a ‘bachha’ stating that he was behaving like a child. He warned that it will not be possible for the CM to touch the BRS party.

According to sources, KCR made the comments during the meeting of party leaders in Telangana Bhavan. Sources said he was critical of the CM. “The new CM is speaking irresponsibly and personally abusing me and also my party. ‘It won’t be possible for you to touch either me or my party. We have a history of facing bigger leaders than you. KCR will not be afraid of you… and will never go back on interests of people of Telangana,” Rao told the meeting.

The BRS chief said the CM was ‘talking more. He will be in the post today but may not be permanent. The interests of Telangana are important for the BRS’, he said. He wanted the leaders to have mandal and constituency-wise meetings, round-tables and create awareness among people against government policies.. “We are not a small party; we have a strength of 39 members. Don’t go back on fight; the future is ours,” he counselled.

Rao recalled that Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhavat had pressurised him for handing over the Krishna Basin projects. “When Shekhavat said they will notify if Telangana does not listen, I told him to impose President’s rule if they want, but will never allow the projects to be handed over to the Centre. In spite of huge pressure from the Centre, the State government never bothered to handover the project,” he pointed out, adding he knows what needs to be done for protecting interests of Telangana. He said Telangana will be badly affected if projects are handed over to the KRMB. ‘The Centre has started the game now because the new rulers have no knowledge about projects’.

He said it was responsibility of BRS activists to take up another public movement now and ensure that the rights were not taken away. As part of protest program, Rao called upon the activists to participate in ‘Chalo Nalgonda’ on February 13. ‘With the handing over of projects people of Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Khammam and Mahbubnagar and the combined districts of Hyderabad are at risk of getting caught in drought without getting drinking water’.
