Basara IIIT water supply repairs underway, classes to resume soon
Khanapur: Nirmal District Collector Bhavesh Mishra has assured students of Basara IIIT (RGUKT) that necessary measures are being taken to prevent water shortages, with physical classes expected to resume within two to three days.
During his visit to the institute on Monday, the Collector said the campus houses nearly 10,000 people and requires around 1.5 million litres of water daily. Of the three 60 HP motors drawing water from the Godavari River, only one is currently operational.
The administration has sanctioned Rs8 lakh for repairs, with the faulty motors expected to be restored within 10 days. An additional motor is also planned.
The Collector said the campus’s 29-acre storage pond and supplementary supplies would help meet demand. He stressed that the problem concerns distribution, not water availability, and directed officials to expedite repairs and restore normal academic activities.
