Wanaparthy: The BJP has demanded that September 17 be officially observed as Telangana Liberation Day across the State. BJP Town President Bathini Madhusudan and Seva Sankalpam Abhiyan Town Convener Gajarajula Thirumalesh submitted representations containing seven demands to Additional Collector T. Vinod Kumar and RDO Subrahmanyam.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP leaders said September 17, 1948, was a significant day in Telangana’s history as Hyderabad State was liberated from the Nizam’s rule and integrated with the Indian Union. They recalled the sacrifices made by farmers, women, youth and common people during the struggle.

The leaders also highlighted the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the Indian Army’s Operation Polo in the integration of Hyderabad State.

They said preserving the history of the liberation movement and remembering the sacrifices of martyrs was the collective responsibility of society. The BJP leaders urged the government to implement the Telangana Sapta Sankalpas and organise grand official celebrations across the State on September 17. Several senior party leaders and workers participated.
