Peddemul: The delay in the construction of a road is causing hardships to the commuters. They have been suffering, as there is no alternate route. The 2-km-long road is between Buddaram and Peddemul Thanda.

An amount of Rs 1.5 crore was sanctioned for the construction of the road. The works commenced six months ago. The contractors filled the road with gravel and left it. It has become impossible for commuters to walk or drive on the gravel.

The commuters who travel Zahareerabad, Nagulapalli and Thattepalli through this road have to take another route, which is 12 km extra distance. The road users blame contractors and the officials who are callous about the work.

When the issue was taken to the Assistant Engineer at Panchayat Raj Siddharth, he said that the contractor was already informed about the timeframe of the construction works. "If he fails to deliver in time, we levy fine and blacklist him," he warned.

Meanwhile, people have to suffer the horrible experience of travelling on the gravel surface. They request the government to complete the work as early as possible.
