Nagarkurnool: DistrictCollector Hemanta Keshav Patil expressed displeasure over the failure of officials to create awareness among farmers about government schemes and ordered the suspension of Mandal Animal Husbandry Officer Dr Nagaraju. He also directed officials to issue a show-cause notice to Agriculture AEO Suresh after finding that a dairy farmer was unaware of the 75 per cent subsidy offered by the government on fodder seeds.

During his visit to Marchala village in Kalwakurthymandal on Monday, the Collector inspected a farm pond belonging to farmer Tajuddin and a dairy farm spread over 3.5 acres run by Krishnaiah. He enquired about farming activities, water utilisation, cattle rearing, fodder availability and the problems faced by farmers. When asked about the source of fodder seeds, Krishnaiah said he was purchasing them privately, as he was unaware of the government subsidy scheme.

Expressing concern over the lack of awareness, the Collector questioned the officials for failing to inform livestock farmers about the subsidy available through the Animal Husbandry Department. He stressed that officials must ensure that government schemes reach every eligible farmer and that farmers receive timely information about subsidies and other benefits.
