Ensure all eligible persons receive ration and nutritious food
Adilabad: Telangana State Food Commission Chairman Goli Srinivas Reddy has directed officials to ensure strict implementation of the National Food Security Act, 2013, and that all eligible people receive ration and nutritious food. He issued the directions at a review meeting at the Collectorate Conference Hall on Wednesday during his two-day field visit to Adilabad.
Srinivas Reddy called for clear display boards at Anganwadi centres, welfare hostels and ration shops, carrying officials’ details, complaint procedures and toll-free numbers. He also flagged shortcomings in meal timings, menu implementation, kitchen hygiene and supervision at some tribal welfare residential schools and hostels. Commission member Oraganti Anand said pregnant and lactating women must receive nutritious food and medical care, while children should get Balamrut, milk and eggs through Anganwadis.
Collector Rajarshi Shah said 4,500 metric tonnes of rice are distributed monthly through 2,566 ration shops to 2,27,477 ration cards covering 7,44,404 beneficiaries.
