Hyderabad: Finally, the delayed South West Monsoon is onset over Telangana. On Friday , most parts of the Telangana is covered by the monsoon and the remaining parts are likely to be covered in one or two days.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the rain fall in June is expected to be below normal and overall seasonal rainfall will be close to normal.

The IMD ( Hyderabad ) Director YK Reddy said that onset is declared based on realization of rainfall at more than 60 per cent places and wind speed 30-40 km per hour up to 4km height. He said that heat wave conditions are not considered after the onset of monsoon. The official also clarified the delay in onset of monsoon has no impact on quantum of rainfall for the monsoon season. Farmers are advised to proceed with sowing or other agricultural activities.

Under the influence of the monsoon, many places in Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Medchal, Malkajigiri, Nagarkurnool, Narayanapet, Adilabad and Yadadri – Bhongir districts received moderate rains. The highest rainfall of 82.5 mm was recorded at Madhapur in Serlingampally in Rangareddy district, followed by Vaidehinagar in Hayatnagar mandal ( 60 mm) and Kalavancha in Abdullapur met mandal in Rangareddy district, it is reported 54.8 mm rainfall.
