Congress leader and former minister Juvvadi Ratnakar passed away today morning at a hospital in Karimnagar. Ratnakar served as endowments minister during the former Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhar Reddy's regime.

Ratnakar began his political career as Thimmapur Sarpanch. In 1982, he served as the president of Jagtial Panchayat Samiti. In the same year, he contested for the Jagtial MLA seat from Congress party and defeated. In 1989, when the Congress party denied ticket to him, Ratnakar contested as an independent candidate and won as Buggaram MLA.

He again lost Buggaram seat in 1994. However, he managed to regain the seat in 1999 and 2004 elections. In 2009 and 2010, he contested from Korutla but was defeated. Since then, Ratnakar stayed away from politics.

His last rites will be held today in Thimmapur of Dharmapuri mandal in Jagtial.
