Hyderabad: A major fire broke out in an oil compound in Mahbub Mansion, Malakpet due to an electrical short circuit. Though the fire was major, but, no casualties were reported. According to fire department, they received a call at around 5 pm and immediately four fire tenders from Malakpet and Gowliguda areas were rushed to the spot. It took around 1 hour for the fire fighters to douse the flames which were erupting from the oil godown.

The officials also said that as it was an oil godown the fire spread rapidly and if fire tenders would not be rushed immediately, then the damage would have been higher. Moreover, there are residential complexes around the area and if the fire would have spread the fatalities would have been severe. Apart from this day, there were also two other major fires reported from two scrap yards in Jeedimetla which were adjacent to each other. In that case, the fire broke out due to a cigarette bud which was thrown negligently in the scrap yard by one of the workers. The fire had immediately spread to the adjacent scrap yard.

But, the fire was doused off within 30 minutes in both the scrap yards. Residents in the surrounding areas had witnessed panic movement as the scrap yards are situated amidst the residential colonies. However, no casualties were reported from that incident as well.
