TS records over 100 cases every day since Lockdown 5.0

Hyderabad: Taken aback by the surge in the COVID-19 cases under GHMC limits after the relaxations were announced, the state government is now said to be mulling to impose certain restrictions in public places in next few days.

After the Lockdown 5.0 came into existence from June 1, the number of positive cases reported in Hyderabad were not less than 100 every day. On June 1 alone, the highest number of 122 persons were tested positive in the state capital. Despite taking necessary measures in the containment zones, the spread of the virus is not coming under control.

Currently, the government has clamped complete restrictions on the people's movements in 159 containment zones in Hyderabad. The highest number of 16 zones were established in Uppal and Santosh Nagar circles, 13 containment zones in Amberpet and 10 zones in Moosapet circle were under close observation.

The State Health department in association with some research wings was conducting ground level inspection to ascertain the reasons behind the continuous increase of positive cases in the city.

Since malls, hotels and religious places are also going to open in next three or four days, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is taking stock of the measures that need to be taken to check largescale spread of the corona virus.

It is felt that that carelessness on the part of the people from following the protocols was one of the reason for the increase in positive cases. While the movement of people during day time is back to normal, even during the curfew time from 9 pm to 5 am, people have been moving around as if there is no curfew. It has also been noticed that at many of them are not using proper masks and some of them, including senior politicians were wearing it around the chin.

Lack of maintenance of social distance in the public places is another cause of worry for the government. Hence, a senior official said that serious exercise was on to come up with certain restrictions to be imposed on the movement of people in about a week's time.
