Hyderabad: Telangana government on Wednesday issued orders releasing Rs 235 crore for giving salary for the 55-day strike period to the RTC employees.

According to the officials, the employees who took part in the strike would be getting salaries for 55 days before March 31. Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar said that government was committed for bringing the RTC on track and welfare of the employees and this was proved by releasing Rs 235 crore for giving salaries to the employees for strike period. The minister thanked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for fulfilling the promise made to the RTC staff in the 'Atmiya Sammelanam' meeting at Pragathi Bhavan.

The minister said that the government would bring reforms for development of RTC and added that already steps were taken for welfare of the employees. He asked the officials and employees to strive for improving the revenue of the Corporation. He recalled that the government allocated Rs 1,000 crore in the budget for RTC.

The RTC employees on Wednesday performed milk bath to the portrait of the chief minister at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station thanking him for giving salaries for the strike period. The Telangana Jathiya Mazdoor Union (TJMU) leader K Hanumanthu Mudiraj has welcomed the decision. He also demanded the government to decrease the workload on the employees and also implement the wage agreement entered with the workers during 2017.
