With the monsoon over, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared the onset of the winter season, though it is likely to be milder than that in previous years as El Niño conditions have prevailed over the Indian region.

A rainfall surplus is predicted over the maximum and minimum temperatures during October, while a deficit is expected over India during October and October-December.

An eighteen percent rainfall deficit has been observed in Telangana while Nalgonda, Nirmal, Jogulamba Gadwal and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts have recorded high rainfall deficits.
