Hyderabad: The High Court Chief Justice bench issued notices to the Union Health Ministry and Family Welfare, New Delhi, directing it to inform the court on the endeavors made by the Central government in coming out with a vaccine to curb the rampant spread of coronavirus in the country.

The bench headed by Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy, hearing the public interest litigation filed by C Madhukar, sought a direction from the Government of India to lay special focus on the aspect of coming up with the vaccine for Covid-19 as mandated under the Constitution of India.

The Chief Justice queried with the Assistant Solicitor General Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao as to why the Central government was delaying in bringing out a vaccine when the country had numerous talented scientists, who could be entrusted with such a task.

For further hearing, the plea was adjourned by six weeks.
