Karimnagar: Telangana State will secure recognition as the Kaleshwaram project will provide water for irrigation to 45 lakh acres in the State. Karimnagar district will be benefited, according to Health Minister Eatala Ranjeder here on Wednesday.

The Minister was laying foundation stone for the construction of canal works under Mote project. The project is taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 271 crore.

Speaking at a public meeting on the occasion, he said said the construction works of Kaleshwaram project were completed in record time unlike the works on Nagarjunasagar and Srishailam.

Not only in the country but also across the World, Kaleshwaram is one of the mega projects. No other project across the world was completed in such a short period. From the time of its construction, within two years of time only, the water from Kaleshwaram project is being supplied for irrigation and drinking water needs to the people of Telangana state, he added.

He also said the Kaleshwaram project water would be supplied for 300 days continuously without any interruption for irrigation purpose through canals.

After the TRS came to power, it completed many irrigation projects. Mid-manair construction works were also completed. From the coming up year about 45 lakh acres of land is would receive water for irrigation, he said.
