Karthik's entry raises hackles in TRS
Leaders fear the rise of groupism and conflict of interest in the party
Rajendranagar: Ever since the news of the young Congress leader P Karthik Reddy joining the pink party started doing rounds, the TRS leadership in Rajendranagar is worried, while the large number of cadres welcoming the latest development with a mixed response.
As the son of senior Congress leader and a political stalwart Sabitha Indra Reddy, a young leader like Karthik Reddy is being seen as a strong and a charismatic personality by the majority of TRS cadres who opine that with his entry, the party would flourish further and make a strong presence in Rajendranagar.
"Since the last few years, it became difficult for us to generate peoples' opinion in our favour or ask them to have faith in us in the absence of a strong leadership which always stood by words and take appropriate decision as and when it needed.
We are facing many issues with regard to strong representation in GHMC, Electricity, Revenue and other civil corridors where large number of people approach on a daily basis to resolve their issues," said a leader on the request of anonymity.
"Present leadership is not at all effective in dealing with the administration to resolve these issues resulting in losing peoples' faith.
To examine these civic issues and resolve them, a strong leadership was needed and with the joining of leader like Karthik Reddy into TRS fold, the pink party in Rajendranagar would get a big boost, he added.
The members belonging to minority community, which are largely based in Hassan Nagar, Sulaiman Nagar, Shastripuram and even in some parts of the Kishan Bagh area, are reportedly happy over the development.
People, especially in Muslim dominated areas are welcoming the joining of Karthik Reddy into the TRS as they feel that under the present leadership, the pink party will not get a resounding mandate from the areas where the people belonging to the minority community have a decisive role.
"In the last 5 years, the local MLA has seldom visited the Muslim majority areas of Rajendranagar constituency especially those areas that comes under Shastripuram Division. This made it difficult for the local population to repose faith in him.
A large number of people are also not happy with the performance of the MIM party in these areas," said another local leader, while speaking to The Hans India here Tuesday.
However, there are still some leaders who believe that under the present MLA's leadership, the TRS party made a significant gain in the recent times as the pink party emerged victorious for the second time in the recently concluded general elections in his patronage.
These leaders are anticipating the present development as a setback to their prospective career in the days to come.
They argue that the present development will pave way for divisive opinion among the party cadre and would lead to groupism in Rajendranagar as the mixed blood of Congress and TRS might cause conflict of interest among the cadre.
"MLA T Prakash Goud is doing whatever he could to keep the mandate of the people in party's favour besides making every effort to strengthen the TRS party in his constituency.
He also took steps and ensured that development works were sanctioned, irrespective of the party affiliations, especially for Shastripuram Division, where the sewerage works were in progress", claimed Omer Bin Awad, TRS Division President Shastripuram.
