Peddapalli: Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar challenged former minister Koppula Eshwar to quit politics if proved that BRS leaders were holding government land.
Addressing a press conference at Dharmaram mandal headquarters on Thursday, Laxman Kumar said the government would examine allegations of encroachments on government and assigned lands and take action in accordance with the law wherever violations were established.
He also questioned KCR and Koppula Eshwar over the reported sprinkling of turmeric water at KCR’s farmhouse following a protest by Dalit activists. Laxman Kumar alleged that the BRS leadership had failed to adequately respond to the incident and urged its SC Cell leaders to seek an explanation from KCR.
The Minister said the government had recently reviewed SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act cases at a state-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He cited the review as an indication of the government’s approach towards cases involving Dalits and tribals.
On land issues in Dharmaram mandal, Laxman Kumar said a comprehensive inquiry was underway into allegations that lands earlier assigned to poor beneficiaries had been illegally transferred or that revenue records had been altered.
He said the government would recover lands found to have been unlawfully occupied and ensure that eligible poor families benefit from them.
He said the inquiry into Survey No. 676 was examining the issuance of ORC, the number of inam right holders and the alleged conversion of prohibited land into patta land. The Minister said the government would proceed based on the findings of the inquiry.
Laxman Kumar said government land at Jakkannapalli and beside the MRO office in Dharmaram would be developed into residential plots for eligible poor families. Allotments would be made through a draw, irrespective of political affiliation or caste, he added.
He also announced that an ATC (ITI) centre would be established at Yerraguntapalli in Dharmaram mandal, with works expected to begin soon under the supervision of Labour and Employment Minister Dr Vivek Venkataswamy. He said plans were being prepared for the overall development of the mandal.
Dharmaram mandal Congress president Rupla Naik, mandal Sarpanches Forum president Ranjith, sarpanches from various villages and senior Congress leaders were present.
