Nagarkurnool: The district headquarters witnesses grand Dasara celebrations every year, with the municipal department coordinating with other government departments to make special arrangements. However, this year, incomplete works at the Tank Bund have disappointed residents and visitors. People have expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in completing several works even as the festival approaches. The Tank Bund is one of the major attractions during the Dasara festivities in the town.

However, residents say the arrangements to create a pleasant atmosphere are inadequate this year. The planters installed for decoration are lying empty without plants, while the lawns provided for children lack proper watering and maintenance, affecting the greenery. Incomplete works at the Bathukamma ghats and near the Jammi tree are also causing inconvenience to visitors.

Residents expressed concern that despite spending lakhs of rupees on Tank Bund development, the facilities are not being maintained as expected. More than 40 CCTV cameras were installed at the Tank Bund, but most are reportedly non-functional due to a lack of maintenance, with only five cameras currently working.

The boat that sank in the lake last year has been kept ashore, and no replacement boat has been made available, bringing boating activities to a halt.

Residents feel that these shortcomings are affecting the Tank Bund’s appeal as a tourist attraction. They have urged municipal officials to immediately complete the pending works and ensure proper maintenance of plants, lawns, Bathukamma ghats and the surroundings of the Jammi tree before the Dasara celebrations.

Meanwhile, concerned municipal officials could not be reached over the phone for a response.
