Warangal: The State government's impetus is on ensuring better transportation to Medaram during the biennial Sammakka Saralamma jatara (fair), scheduled to be held from February 5 to February 8 next year, Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Minister for Tribal Welfare Satyavathi Rathod said.

Conducting a review meeting with the officials in Hyderabad on Thursday, the duo said that efforts were on to ensure hassle free darshan to devotees.

Stating that continuous rains had damaged roads in the region, the Ministers directed the officials to repair the roads leading to Medaram before the end of December.

Referring to the ongoing road expansion work between Hyderabad and Warangal, the Ministers admitted that devotees have to face some inconvenience.

They told the highways authorities to complete the Alair, Vangapally and other bypass roads to provide some relief to the motorists.

Stating that the Warangal-Khammam road was also in shambles, the Ministers directed the officials to take up the repair works with immediate effect.

The Ministers also wanted to complete the internal roads in the city that connect highways. The work on proposed second road over bridge at Fathima Nagar should also be started as early as possible, the Ministers said.

Mahabubabad MP Maloth Kavitha said that she would pursue with the national highways authority to commence works on the pending five roads in Warangal division.

Wardhannapet MLA Aroori Ramesh sought the government to repair the Warangal-Khammam and Warangal-Karimnagar roads so that to avoid mishaps. Station Ghanpur MLA Thatikonda Rajaiah urged the authorities to speed up the work on road expansion between Hyderabad and Warangal which was moving at a snail's pace.

Parkal MLA Challa Dharma Reddy, Jangaon MLA M Yadagiri Reddy, R&B Chief Engineer Ganapathi Reddy, Superintending Engineer Vasantha and Executive Engineer Venkateshwar Rao were among others present.
