Demanding Minimum Support Price (MSP) for red jowar and turmeric, farmers of Nizamabad staged a protest in a unique way by turning up at the collectorate to file nominations for the Lok Sabha elections.

Of the 56 nominations filed in the Nizamabad segment, 50 were filed by the farmers. And as it was the last day to file nominations today, hundreds of farmers lined up at the collectorate to file the papers. However, the police imposed 144 section near the collectorate to avoid any untoward incident.

In February, the farmers staged a protest by blocking the National Highway 44 at Perkit and Jakranpally mandal which affected the traffic on Hyderabad and Nagpur route.
