Hyderabad: Now, the ‘Telangana Family Register Certificate’ has been made mandatory for citizens who wish to avail of the benefits of government schemes.

The Telangana's Family Register Certificate is an official digital document that lists a household's composition based on the Food Security Card (ration card) database. It shows family members' names, ages, genders, and relationships to the family head. It will be used as an authenticated record of family details. It will be linked directly with the state's ration card database using a matching Family Register Identification Number. It will be made available to major family members through any local MeeSeva Centre or online portal. It will be delivered within two working days after verification. The certificate will also have Aadhaar numbers and present residential address. Secretary to State Revenue Department DS Lokesh Kumar issued orders to this effect to Tahsildars of mandals to carry out the verification of the applications and approve them through digital signature and issue the Family Register Certificate.

People have been requested to submit the applications online at any Meeseva center. The certificate will be issued on the MeeSeva platform. The application shall be made in the prescribed format and contain the food security or ration card number of the family. All the district collectors have been instructed to ensure that the applicant's grievances are addressed instantly in case the application is rejected due to various reasons. Top officials said that the Family Register Certificate would help eliminate double ration cards possessed by several families. The number of ration cards was almost one crore in the state. Several families possess two ration cards in many districts, and the cardholders have been availing double the subsidized fine rice benefit against rules. As a result, the state government has been bearing huge subsidy burden on rice supply Apart from removing the ration cards for ineligible persons, the certificate would help the government to disburse welfare scheme benefits based on the number of members in every family. Officials said that mismanagement of the schemes can also be controlled by updating the family members in a single certificate.
