Warangal: With the coronavirus (Covid-19) scare looming large, the administration is gearing up to deal with any kind of exigency, if at all they encounter.

All the six district administrations – Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Mulugu and Jayashankar-Bhupalpally – have already set up exclusive isolation wards for the people suffering with the symptoms of coronavirus – such as cold, cough, fever and breathing problems.

In addition to this, the government is gearing up to set up quarantine wards across the erstwhile Warangal district. Against this backdrop, Medical and Health Department officials are preparing a list of colleges that are viable to set up quarantine wards.

According to the DM&HO, the government is keen to set up quarantine wards with sufficient infrastructure to deal with the Covid-19 that is threatening to assume pandemic proportions.

Warangal Urban District Additional DM&HO Dr T Madhan Mohan Rao said that they are preparing an action plan to deal with the Covid-19.

"We are of the plan to set up quarantine beds at Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) Hostels, Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW), SVS Institute etc.

The plan is to keep people those who come from other countries for a fortnight," he said. A detailed report would be submitted in this regard to the Urban District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu and GWMC Commissioner Pamela Satpathy, he said.

He said that they have already provided knowhow of the Covid-19 treatment to the local doctors and staff.

Meanwhile, all the district collectors have issued orders to government departments not to allow the visitors to their offices unless if there was any dire need.

They were told to collect the representations from the people at the entry point of their offices. The higher officials were also told to avoid meetings with employees and told them to depend on video conferences.

Illegal stocks of sanitisers seized

Meanwhile, the officials of the Drugs Control Administration led by Assistant Director G Srinivas and Warangal Urban Drugs Inspector Md Rafi have found sanitisers unauthorizedly stocked at Mahadev Enterprises at Beat Bazar in the city.

During inspection unauthorised stock of hand sanitizer with brand name of smart hand manufactured by Shubam beauty care in Kotari Compound in Mandapa under Thane in Mumbai.

G Srinivas said that they have seized stock and samples of hand sanitizers will be sent to drugs control laboratory in Hyderabad for the analysis.

As per the world Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, the preparation of sanitiser with prescribed percentage of ethanol or isopropyl alcohol is only effective against virus. He advised the consumers to use alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
