Hyderabad: Six failed Intermediate students committed suicide in Telangana after the announcement of the first and second year Inter results on Thursday evening.

Disappointed on their performance in the exams, the six students from different parts of the state took the extreme step either by hanging, consuming poison or getting run over by train.

A Anamika of Khagajnagar, Vennela of Bodhan, Lasya of Marredpally, Navyasree of Medchal, Nagender of AS Rao Nagar, and M Bhanukiran of Warangal lost their lives for not controlling their emotions and for the failure in the exams.

Ashish Naredi, member, Hyderabad School Parents' Association, opines that the students after passing the school education are going into tremendous pressure from colleges, society and parents.

"All these three are putting additional pressure on the students by saying that if they do not perform well, their lives are over. Nothing left in their lives if they don't get grades and ranks in the exams.

Madhusudhan Reddy, president of Inter JAC, expressed shock over the suicides and opined that 'Guilty in Society' menace is the immediate basic reason behind the suicides.

The parents of the students without paying attention to the health and facilities of the students, they are more concentrating on the marks and the ranks and making them study under pressure.

It is the duty of the parents to identify the talents and abilities of their children, if they find any problems in their children's performances, they should take their children to the experts and counselled by them.

The defects and negligence of the Intermediate Board in announcing the results added fuel to the problem. He demanded introduction of grading system in Intermediate to reduce the pressure on students.

Shripuja Siddamsetti, psychologist, analyses the reasons behind the suicides of students as pressure leads to giving up their goals by building up anxiety, depression and suicide.

The solution to this is regular yoga, healthy food given in schools for children and teaching them to fly high and teach them to be grounded.

By teaching them that all this is important but also the meaning of life purpose is much higher it would help the students mould their lives. She proposed the parents to adopt 'what best' policy rather than 'what next' to the students.

s before us that the people who are poor in their academics are living their lives far better economically than toppers. This fact has to be taught to the students by their parents.

They must neutralize the pressure mounted on to them by the colleges and by society and through support and extra care only can save their children and make them perform well in their lives," he explained.
