Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Sudharshan Reddy said the Election Commission had changed its verification process to reduce inconvenience to the public.

Notices have been issued to 92 lakh people. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will collect verification documents directly from recipients. He said families do not need to have every person named in a notice present; one person can provide details for all family members.

In states where the verification is under way, the Commission has directed officials to obtain a declaration along with Form 6. The process will continue until 5 November, and Reddy said there was no intention to extend the deadline again.

He said responses were still pending from three lakh people, while 65 lakh had replied and 54 lakh had been included in the final list. Reddy added that BLOs are government employees, not members of political parties.

On the Khairatabad by-election, Reddy said the matter falls under the Chief Election Commissioner’s authority. The state government gazette and High Court orders had been forwarded to the CEC. Notices were issued to 80,000 voters in the constituency, but responses had so far been received from only 20 per cent, he said.
