The situation turned tense near Lok Bhavan as the police arrested TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, some ministers, and others during an agitation.
Congress, the TJAC along with left-wing parties had called for an agitation as per the slogan “Chalo Lok Bhavan,” demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar. Leaders of INDIA bloc had also joined the march towards Lok Bhavan from Khairatabad.
The police had formed barricades about 300 meters away from the building and prevented the agitation from marching further. Some ministers and MLAs criticized the police for stopping the procession when it was arrested by the police.
Goud and ministers Sridhar Babu, Adluri Laxman, and Azharuddin had been taken to Panjagutta police station. It is also reported that agitations led by INDIA bloc had taken place in other parts of the country.
