The Telangana High Court on Friday issued a green signal to hold elections to 121 municipalities in the state.

The Telangana High Court on Friday issued a green signal to hold elections to 121 municipalities in the state. However, the court directed the government to re-hold the pre-election process of the municipal elections in 14 days. It also dismissed the final notification issued on the changes in voters list and delimitation of wards and lifted the stay on 73 municipalities.

In the 14-day period, the court asked the government to revise the voter list and also delimit the wards. A notification will be released by the government soon.

Out of the total 128 municipalities and 13 corporations, the elections will be held for 121 municipalities and 10 corporations as the tenure of Greater Hyderabad, Greater Warangal and Khammam and two other (Siddipet, Achampet) has not been ended. While elections for five other municipalities have not been announced due to some other reasons.
