Hyderabad: In an effort to counter fake news against the government and also to promote the government programmes, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) took up training of its leaders in social media.

The leaders are trained on how to use social media to promote party programmes and also counter the opposition parties especially for their attacks on the government. Party chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wanted that the party leaders counter the misinformation and fake allegations against the government on social media platforms.

Sources said the Chief Minister was unhappy with the leaders not responding to the allegations of the opposition parties especially allegations by the BJP and asked them to counter the attacks but not in a hurried manner. The party leaders feel that the BJP has been in forefront to utilise the social media and it had paid dividends.

To begin with, the party organised a meeting of the party leaders from Chennur Assembly constituency. The party MLA B Suman took the initiative to organise a training session to the party leaders from his constituency. According to a member of the social media team, about 200 party active members were given basic training in social media at Telangana Bhavan.

The social media member said it was a technical session for the party activists from Chennur. They were informed about various forms of platforms like Twitter, Facebook etc. They were taught about how to be active on the social media constantly watching the fake news and also the criticism of the opposition parties and countering them with facts and how to promote good content, content writing etc.

In the second level, the leaders would be given technical training. He said this is the beginning and soon the training sessions would be taken up for other constituencies. MLA B Suman who was in the training session said the party leaders should take active role in taking the programmes of the government to the people in the age of social media.

He said the government has taken up many good programmes including schemes for every section of the society and if these programmes are taken to the people, there is no looking back for the party in future. He wanted the leaders to closely monitor the fake news by opposition and counter them immediately.
