JAGTIAL: The Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission (TGERC) has introduced a uniform system of service line charges for eligible High Tension (HT) electricity connections and additional loads at the 11 KV level, according to Jagtial Circle Superintending Engineer B. Sudarshanam.
He said TGERC had issued Regulation No. 7 of 2026 as the third amendment to the “Licensee’s Duty for Supply of Electricity on Request” regulations. The new regulation aims to bring greater transparency, uniformity and speed into the process of providing electricity connections to eligible 11 KV HT consumers.
Under the revised provisions, a service line charge of Rs. 4,078 per KVA of contracted demand will be applicable for new 11 KV HT connections and additional loads located within one kilometre through an overhead line from an existing electrified 11 KV common feeder, he said.
The uniform charges would provide consumers with clarity on the service line cost in advance and bring greater uniformity in the scrutiny and processing of applications. Earlier, service line costs at the 11 KV level were determined based on site inspections and technical estimates.
With the new system, the dependence on individual estimates would be reduced for eligible services, helping simplify and speed up the application process, the SE said.
The revised system is expected to benefit consumers in the industrial, commercial and IT sectors seeking new power connections or additional loads. Advance clarity on costs and greater transparency in the sanctioning process would make it easier for businesses and industries to plan their power infrastructure requirements.
The SE said the uniform service line charges would also help create a more investment-friendly environment by improving efficiency and time-bound delivery of electricity services. Strengthening power infrastructure in line with the growing electricity demand in the State and providing transparent, efficient and consumer-friendly services remain the key objectives, he added.
