Once facing questions of women's safety, UP now a new symbol of security, says CM Yogi
In Short
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath says the state has emerged as a symbol of women's safety, citing Mission Shakti, women police personnel and technology-driven policing.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that before the BJP government came to power in Uttar Pradesh in 2017, women's safety was an issue; however, now the state has become the "new identity of the security and strength of feminine power".
CM Yogi extended greetings on the second day of Navaratri and said, "The mantra of success attained through the penance and resolve of Mother Brahmacharini teaches us that even goals that appear impossible can be achieved with firm determination."
Drawing comparisons with the situation in Uttar Pradesh before and after the BJP government came to power, the Chief Minister said that the double-engine government is realising the resolve of women empowerment.
"Before the year 2017, Uttar Pradesh was surrounded by questions regarding women's safety; today, it has become the new symbol of the security and strength of feminine power," he said.
Over the past 9.5 years, CM Yogi said that a "zero-tolerance policy toward crime and criminals, technology-based surveillance, swift police action, and public awareness campaigns" have played a significant role in creating a "fearless environment for women" in the state.
He said that initiatives such as the five phases of Mission Shakti, the Safe City project, Mission Shakti centres, and women's beat policing have provided a "comprehensive and robust foundation" to the framework of women's safety.
The Chief Minister said that Uttar Pradesh's women police force has grown from 10,000 to more than 44,000 with 20 per cent reservation.
"Additionally, three women PAC battalions have been established -- in Lucknow named after Veerangana Uda Devi Pasi, in Gorakhpur after Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Kore, and in Badaun after Veerangana Avantibai Lodhi," he said.
"The double-engine government of the state is realising the resolve of 'Empowered Women, Prosperous Uttar Pradesh' through this tireless journey of empowering feminine power from security," CM Yogi added.
