VCK chief to strengthen party base in Anantapur

Anantapur: Tamil Nadu-based Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) party president Thol Tiruma Valavan, who is also a MP is visiting the city to strengthen the party which has nominal presence. The VCK party champions the cause of the Dalits and scheduled tribes communities, according to VCK state party secretary Aggidi Mallaiah.

Addressing a roundtable conference of political parties at the local press club here on Monday, Mallaiah said the VCK stands for the oppressed sections of the society. The party would work with like-minded parties to fight for the rights and security of Dalits and other marginalised sections of the society. Leaders, who spoke at the meeting, promised full support to VCK in their movement to protect the Dalit community from attacks.

The meeting passed a resolution condemning the increasing attacks on the Dalits. Among those who participated in the meeting include Nationalist Congress Party state SC cell vice-president Sankar, KVPS district president O Nallappa, RPSS president Chakkadi Sriramulu, Dalit Ikya Vedika district president Sake Hari, advocates G Pothulaiah and Ranganayakulu and BC Sankshema Samithi state president Sake Naresh were present. VCK leaders Ramesh, M Ramesh Babu, Kadirappa, Narendra, Vara Prasad and Kambadur Suri also spoke.
