Vijayawada: Durga temple to be closed today due to solar eclipse

Vijayawada: Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy temple (Durga temple) atop Indrakeeladri will remain closed on Sunday due to solar eclipse. The temple will be re-opened at 6 am on June 22 after the completion of the rituals.

The temple Vedic committee members had announced that Durga temple along with other associated temples on the hill will remain closed on Sunday due to eclipse.

The annular solar eclipse will begin at 10.25 am and will last till 1.54 pm, according to the temple officials. After the eclipse, the temple will be opened for the cleaning rituals to the Goddess Durga and the priests will perform the cleaning rituals at about 2.30 pm.

Later, the temple doors will be closed after Panchaharati on June 21. On the occasion, the temple committee has cancelled all the darshans on Sunday.
