Employees lay siege to Collectorates in Vizag, Srikakulam & Vizianagaram

Visakhapatnam: The government employees and teachers led by various associations laid siege to the Collectorate here on Saturday demanding that the government cancel the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

Women employees, too, took part in the agitation. However, police arrested the employees and teachers and shifted them to various police stations in the city.

Following the state-wide picketing programme call given by the APNGOs and AP United Teachers Front, a large number of employees and teachers thronged the Collectorate. 

To control the agitators, including women, the district administration deployed women constables. 

When the crowd tried to enter the Collectorate, police prevented and took them into their custody.

Earlier, addressing a gathering, various Teachers Association leaders, including Sivaji, Venkatapathi Raju, Madhu and Prasad, explained how the CPS would impact the employees and teachers. 

Supporting the employees and teachers demand, Civil Rights Bodies and Left party leaders were present.

Govt employees oppose CPS 

Srikakulam: The government employees of all the departments and teachers staged agitation by opposing Contributory Pension Scheme  (CPS) in front of the Collectorate here on Saturday.  

Employees of all the departments and teachers reached here from across the district. 

With an aim to foil the agitation, police arranged barricades at all important road junctions leading to Srikakulam district headquarters and ordered the RTC officials not to ply buses from rural and semi-urban areas till noon. 

Police inspected private transport vehicles to identify the employees and teachers. 

All the employees, including teachers went on mass casual leave in all departments on Saturday, to participate in the agitation. 

Thousands of employees reached the Collectorate by 10 am and staged agitation by raising slogans against the government.

They tried to lay siege to the Collectorate. Police foiled their attempt and arrested the union leaders and shifted them to different police stations across the district. 

Speaking on the occasion, employees and teachers union leaders K Bhanumurthy,  Ch Ravindra, T Chalapathi Rao, APNGOs leaders Ch Purusottam Naidu, H Sairam and Challa Srinivas lamented the government policies against employees. 

Vizianagaram: The employees of various departments laid siege to the Collectorate and demanded that the government cancel the Contributory Pension Scheme. 

They reminded that TDP President had promised in 2014 election campaign that he would protect the rights of the employees but after coming to power he had failed to fulfil his promise. 

Thousands of employees gathered at the Collectorate and blocked the gates. 

They stated that they would show their power in next elections if the government won't respect their demands. 

Police personnel reached there and brought the situation under control.
