Kalyan Ram to bet on Virinchi Varma?

Update: 2018-12-07 05:30 IST

It seems that Nandamuri actor Kalyan Ram is betting his money on young directors these days. He is reportedly teaming up with new-age director Virinchi Varma who delivered hits like ‘Uyyala Jampala’ and ‘Majnu’ for a wholesome entertainer. “Kalyan Ram was impressed with the exciting storyline narrated by Virinchi Varma and gave his nod. The film is expected to go on floors soon,” says a source, close to the unit. The big-ticket film will be bankrolled by leading producer Radha Krishna under Haarika Hassine Creations.

The 38-year-old actor had claimed that he wanted to ‘explore varied roles’ to break away from his action image besides testing his acting chops. “Virinchi has made two heart-warming love stories and has again penned an interesting romantic saga with a tinge of action to give a boost to Kalyan Ram’s image,” the source adds. In fact, Kalyan Ram worked with seasoned directors like Puri Jagannath and Jayendra but both of them disappointed him with duds like ‘Ism’ and ‘Naa Nuvve’ respectively, hence the scion of Nandamuri family is showing interest to work with young directors to refurbish his established image. Meanwhile, the actor is testing his luck with a suspense thriller ‘118’ which is touted to be a nail-biting saga. No doubt, Kalyan Ram is shying away from clichéd potboilers.
