Kedar Jadhav declared fit to play in World Cup 2019

Update: 2019-05-18 22:00 IST

In what comes as a great piece of news for the Indian fans before the World Cup, Kedar Jadhav has been declared fit to take part in the showpiece event, which will be flagged off this month-end in England. The middle-order batsman, along with other Indian cricketers, will thus be boarding the flight to Britain on 22 May.

It may be recalled that Jadhav had injured his shoulder while fielding for the Chennai Super Kings during the recently concluded IPL. The injury had occurred during CSK's final league clash against Kings XI Punjab when the 34-year-old dived on the boundary in an attempt to save some runs for his team. Jadhav was subsequently forced to return home and nurse the injury to attain fitness in quick time.

The Pune-based cricketer eventually trained under the watchful eyes of Team India Physio Patrick Farhart and passed a fitness test at MCA's BKC on Thursday. Farhart submitted the fitness report to the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) and declared Jadhav fit to represent the Indian Team in the upcoming mega tournament.

Despite putting up a poor show in the IPL this year, Jadhav is expected to form a crucial component of India's middle order in England. Equipped with an ability to play as per the situation of the game, the diminutive cricketer has carved a reputation for himself as a street smart customer. Additionally, Jadhav has also come across as a wily customer with the ball in hand, providing crucial breakthroughs with his part-time off breaks.

Come the World Cup and the fans will certainly be hoping to see Jadhav wield his willow to power the team's cause in England.
