Warangal: Focus on long term planning

Warangal: The survey of the physical position of lakes and other water bodies in the limits of the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) needs to be completed at the earliest, Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil told the officials.

Speaking at a review meeting that focused on development activity in KUDA limits here on Friday, the Collector, who is also the in-charge Vice-Chairman of the KUDA, directed the officials to submit a detailed report of all the water bodies and lakes to him by Saturday (December 7).

"Ahead of finalising the draft master plan, there was an imperative need to get comprehensive information about the extent of lakes and water bodies, and encroachments. The variation between the records and the actual position need to be analysed, so that it would helpful in finalising the map related to the draft Master Plan," Patil said.

The Collector told the Project Officer E Ajith Reddy to constitute committees village-wise under the aegis of respective MLAs. He stressed the need for collecting data about the irrigation facilities in the region.

"The planning of the KUDA activities should focus on long term results as the to-be-approved Master Plan was aimed at catering to the needs of people till 2041," the Collector said.
