For the first time, the Election Commission of India introduced Braille ballot facility for visually challenged voters in the recent general elections.

Srikakulam: For the first time, the Election Commission of India introduced Braille ballot facility for visually challenged voters in the recent general elections. By utilising this facility more than 5,000 voters from visually challenged category cast their vote.

According to recent voters' list, the district has 6199 visually challenged voters of them more than 5,000 voters have cast their votes for both assembly and parliamentary segments. "I am very happy to cast my vote on my own for the first time in this elections", said Boddu Srinu, a fourth class employee in the State government.

Srinu cast his vote at Government primary school polling booth at Gonti Veedhi in Srikakulam city. Srinu has regularly attended for rehearsals and preparations of Braille ballot conducted at the collectorate in Srikakulam.
