Vijayawada: Member of Parliament Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) said that safeguarding the rights of the people was the duty of a public representative.

The MP was chief guest at the 20th All India Milli Council (AIMC) meeting held here on Sunday. About 175 Muslim religious leaders from across 27 states participated in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Nani said when the rights were violated many a time, he questioned the government in Parliament in favour of the people. He said that he always took up the cause of the poor and downtrodden and highlighted their plight. He said that he received more votes from the Muslims community people in the recent elections and as a mark of gratitude, he would stand by them to solve their problems.

He expressed his happiness as Muslim leaders from various places of the country participated in the meeting.Media in-charge Farookh Shubli, AIMC president Moulana Abdul Mugavis, general secretary Dr Abdul Manzoor Alam, AIMC AP president Suleman Nadvi, secretary Abdul Khadeer and others were present.
