Ongole: The employees and customers of Andhra Bank Ongole zone celebrated the 97th founder's day by paying rich tributes to their founder Bhogaraju Pattabhi Seetaramaiah and participating in various service activities on Wednesday.

The bank organised a blood donation camp in the conference hall of Ongole main branch, in which about 90 members of staff and customers donated blood of various groups, for use to the required patients in the RIMS Ongole.

In the evening, the bank staff presented fruits, sweets and other required articles to the boys and girls in Bommarillu orphanage and organized a family get together for the working and retires employees of the bank, to celebrate the 97th and probably the last founders day of Andhra Bank in a festive atmosphere.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ongole zonal manager P Ramakrishna said that though it is very hard to operate a financial organization for one year, the Andhra Bank has successfully completed 96 years of service with 2876 branches and 30000 employees in the country.

He claimed that since its inception, the Andhra Bank is lending a helping hand to poor, downtrodden, women, farmers and MSMEs to a great extent and also supporting the corporate sector. He announced that the bank employees are not only contributing to the development of the bank but also participates in many social responsibility programs like helping blood donation, helping the orphanages, old age homes, blind students etc.

The bank AGMs N Ganesh and P Simhachalam said that the bank was started in 1923 with Rs 1 lakh as the capital in Machilipatnam and now developed as a conglomerate with Rs 398000 crore in turnover. They said that the Ongole zone operates 58 branches and 75 ATMs while it has deposits of Rs 2355.38 crores and distributed loans of Rs 3306.35 crores with a total business of Rs 5661.73 crore.
