Vizianagaram: With the state government announcing the schedule for municipal elections to be held on single phase on March 27 and the ZIlla Parishad elections will be held in two phases on March 21 and 24, the aspirants of YSRCP are approaching the local MLAs and lobbying for tickets.

As government fixed the quota for reserved candidates at 50 per cent, the aspirants both women and men aspirants are trying their luck to get ticket for ZPTC and Municipal counsellor posts. On the other hand, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asserted that no money and wine will be allowed during the elections to attract the voters.

If any candidate from any party will be found while distributing either currency or liquor, he will be disqualified from elections and booked a case against them. This is a good sign for the candidate as they need not spend anything from their own pockets.

As the ruling YSRCP won all the MLA constituencies, the cadre of that party is much active and confident about winning in the elections. The TDP cadre is not much active to contest in the elections fearing of cases and other consequences.

M Sridhar, an aspirant from Gajapathinagaram of YSRCP, stated, "We are confident that the government welfare schemes and development activities will help us to win in the polls. The decision of Chief Minister Y S Jagan mohan Reddy not to distribute liquor and money is a good sign for society."

According to sources, the counting of votes and results will be announced on March 29.
