Visakhapatnam: After seven months, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) is gearing up to usher in visitors.

The officials concerned are sanitising the premises and readying it for the visitors who are expected to trickle in from Tuesday.

With the state government granting permission to reopen IGZP in Visakhapatnam and the Central Zoo Authority issuing the standard operating procedures (SOPs), visitors are now allowed to enter the zoo, albeit following Covid-19 protocols.

Zoo curator Nandani Salaria cautions that those who violate the safety protocols will be imposed fine to the tune of Rs.2,000 and suggests to opt for online booking of entry tickets to avoid crowding and minimising the possibility of contact at the counters.

The zoo will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the last booking slot closes by 4 p.m.

Along with the maintenance of social distancing, masks are made mandatory.
