Eluru: Apart from polling staff, the representatives of political parties should also know more about functioning of EVMs to clear their doubts, said Eluru parliamentary constituency elections general observer Dev Dutt Sarma.
He participated in a display and demonstration of EVMs and other equipment for poll officials and political representatives here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that it is equally important that representatives of political parties should have command over EVM functioning on par with polling staff. This would help in conducting elections in a peaceful atmosphere. They have imparted training to polling staff on functioning of EVMs and VVPATs in two phases so far. If necessary, the doubts of the staff on the working of polling equipment would be clarified, he added.
Eluru assembly constituency RO Nagarjunasagar, Tahsildar Suryanaryana, Municipal Commissioner Mohan Rao and others were present. Later, Sarma monitored the awareness session for political representatives on EVMs and VVPATs at Denduluru.
