Kurnool: District collector G Veera Pandiyan has said that 90 per cent of Orvakal Airport works have been completed. He directed the officials concerned to complete the pending works without further delay. The collector made a surprise visit to the Airport to inspect the remaining works on Thursday.

Later speaking to media, the collector said 98 per cent of works have been completed and added Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy would inaugurate the airport if the remaining works were completed within a week's period.

He suggested the officials to take initiatives for planes landing and takeoff after finalising the licence to commercial flight operations. The collector also inspected the runway, ATC tower, PTC building, anti-hijacking room, isolation beds, security check area, scanning center, drinking water, wash room VIP lounge, electrical room, emergency exit, security office baby feeding and the functioning of closed circuit cameras.

DRDA Project Director Sriniasulu, Airport Executive Engineer Prasad, RDO Venkateshu, district level officials, the officials of airport and others were present.
