Kadapa: Due to lack of coordination between official machinery and displaced over paying compensation lives of people living in the submerged villages under Gandikota reservoir turning pathetic as they are felling secure of their lives.

Whenever the administration prepared to draw the Krishna water's from Srisailam Dam there was u7nrest prevailing in the villages they were forced the evacuated from the places following danger of submerged areas inundated in the water.

It may be recalled that on 5th October 2018 following adequate inflows received about 10tmcft water into the Gandikota Reservoir against its original storage capacity 3.5tmcft the official machinery let some water from Gandikota dam caused several villages submerged in the water.

After TDP emerged to power in 2014 elections as part of initiative in increasing the storage capacity of Gandikota Reservoir the government has released total Rs 460 crores compensation for 22 submerged villages in the 1st phase fixing Rs 6.75lakhs each displaced family under R&R package and proposed to shift them to the 7 rehabilitation centres established in the areas like GudemCheruvu, Cheekatapalli, Kondapuram(2 centres), RTPP in Kondapuram mandal. But the displaced ignored to shift alleging that there were no proper infrastructure facilities like drinking water, proper electricity, medical facilities importantly feeling insecure with poisonous creatures.

Meanwhile, after YSR government came to the power in 2019 elections it has increased the compensation amount up to Rs 10lakhs adding Rs 3.25laksh to the compensation (Rs6.75lakhs) sanctioned by the previous government.

To overcome this problem following directions of the government a senior IAS officer and former collector of Kadapa district T.Babu Rao Naidu along with another IAS officer Satish Chandra Jammalamdadugu RDO Naganna and irrigation officials visited the Obannapeta village of Kondapuram mandal.

During the interaction, victims told the officials it will find difficult to stay in the rehabilitation centres due to lakh of proper infrastructure facilities. In them. They also urged injustice was made to real beneficiaries in compensation aspect as some error officials adopted wrong methods.

T, Babu Rao Naidu said that he had well aware of this problem as he earlier worked with Kadapa district. He said government keen on providing infrastructure facilities in rehabilitation facilities and paying compensation in a transparent manner.
