The Prakasam district collector and district election officer Vadarevu Vinay Chand announced that the polling in the district completed peacefully except few disturbances on Thursday.

Ongole: The Prakasam district collector and district election officer Vadarevu Vinay Chand announced that the polling in the district completed peacefully except few disturbances on Thursday.

He said that there were some problems with the EVMs in the early hours but they were rectified by the sector officers and tested with mock polling before using for the election. He said that the polling is peaceful because of the optimum utilisation of the forces.

He said that they deployed 6 companies of central armed forces and 5 companies of state armed forces for the elections in the district. He said that they made special arrangements for the old aged and physically handicapped voters at the polling booths.

He said that the officials in the district attended all complaints received at the district control room and resolved all of them. He said that the EVMs will reach two counting centres in the Ongole town and they will be secured in the strong rooms with three-phase security.

The collector Vinay Chand, his wife Sowmya Keerthi and his mother Lakshmi Naga Girija exercised their right to vote at the DRRM high school in the evening and inspected the polling process.
