Tirupati station redevelopment project awaits State govt's nod: SCR GM Gajanan Mallya
The much awaited Rs.450 crore Tirupati station redevelopment will take some more time to start as the entire plan was with the State government which has to issue a formal notification on it.
Tirupati: The much awaited Rs.450 crore Tirupati station redevelopment will take some more time to start as the entire plan was with the State government which has to issue a formal notification on it. The South Central Railway General Manager (SCR-GM) Gajanan Mallya conducted annual inspection of Guntakal division which starts from Tirupati station to end up at Nandyal.
Addressing the media persons on Tuesday, he explained various development initiatives taken by railways. Similarly, the much delayed Road Under Bridge works at Rayalacheruvu gate in Tirupati city also may take some more time to begin as it involves some approvals from state government and municipal authorities, he said.
While the SCR will have to take up the works at the central part of RUB, Corporation has to take up the approach roads on either side and other works which have to be started simultaneously.
However, the sixth platform works were going on and it will be commissioned soon. On Tuesday, the GM has inaugurated RGB façade lighting, which will have red, green and blue LEDs. To help ailing passengers and those who are unable to walk, a battery car was inaugurated. A big size LED display board outside the station building and air conditioners at ticket checking staff rest rooms were also inaugurated.
GM Mallya has said that Tiruchanur station works may get completed by March next which will have two running and two loop lines along with two platforms. Later, the GM has proceeded for inspections along with Commissioner of Railway Safety and Principal Heads of Departments at Head Quarters.
The inspections will be held in Tirupati – Yerraguntla – Nandyal section. Tirupati Station Director S Nagaramana Sarma, Station Manager K Rajendra Prasad and other officials were present.
