The Department of Botany of Maris Stella College organised tree plantation programme as a part of protecting the environment with the theme ‘Do your share to care nature’ on Thursday.

Vijayawada: The Department of Botany of Maris Stella College organised tree plantation programme as a part of protecting the environment with the theme 'Do your share to care nature' on Thursday. The week-long programme was inaugurated by the college principal Dr Sr Jasintha Quadras.

CVL Karuna, HoD Botany explained the theme of the programme and said that the need for tree plantation has become even greater these days because of growing pollution. Dr Sr Jasintha Quadras, in her message said that verification of environmental pollution is absolutely necessary.

Students of Botany organised a rally with plants around the college and planted saplings and took a pledge of 'Plant a Sapling to Save the Planet'. Medicinal plants, flower plants, trees which provide shade, ornamental plants, and avenue plants were planted by the students.

Correspondent Sr Sleeva, faculty, members of Green Audit Cell and students of Intermediate, degree and PG participated in the programme.
