As a cinematographer, Aloysius Vincent (1928-2015) was nothing short of an icon. Having begun his career in 1953 with a Telugu film 'Chandirani' as a guest cinematographer, he went on continuously in his career doing many multi-lingual films in Hindi and other southern languages. Interestingly, his last film was also in Telugu - Nagarjuna's humongous hit ' Annamayya' released in 1997.

By that time, he had shot close to 100 films and more under various directors featuring stars like Chiranjeevi at one end and Sivaji Ganesan at the other. The cinematography of legendary hero N T Rama Rao's all-time hit ' Adavi Ramudu' featuring the sultry siren Sridevi too was undertaken by him.

From 1964-1986, he also directed around 30 films in Tamil and Malayalam. His achievements are definitely befitting one that of an all-rounder as two of his sons are renowned cinematographers today in Indian cinema.
