Gone are the times when just Hindi movies enjoyed an elite status in the Indian film industry. The regional language films have come a long way and how!

South Indian movies, particularly Telugu ones are so popular that Bollywood filmmakers and stars are opting for remakes of the hit movies here.

Here's a list of movies from the south which were remade in Hindi and went on to become blockbuster hits

Mahesh Babu's Pokiri was remade as Wanted with Salman Khan in the lead role. The movie directed by Prabhu Deva was a super-duper hit.

Ravi Teja's Kick was a blockbuster hit in Telugu. This too was remade in Hindi with Salman and Jacqueline in the lead roles. The film raked in substantial moolah at the box office.

Vijay Deverakonda's cult movie Arjun Reddy set a new benchmark in Telugu cinema. The film was made in Bollywood by Sandeep Vanga himself with Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. What more, the film became a bigger hit than Arjun Reddy. The Hindi movie was titled, Kabir Singh.

Kaithi is the latest movie to be remade in Hindi. The film is the remake of the Tamil hit which starred Karti in the lead. In the Bollywood version, Ajay Devgn will reprise the role of Karti.

These are only a few of the many films that have been remade from a regional language to Hindi and became hits. Others include Salman's Ready from Telugu, Suriya's Singam with Ajay Devgn reprising Suriya's character in the Hindi version and more. It appears Bollywood filmmakers are keen on south remakes for box office success.
